Fujitsu Buying Guide

This is a short guide to buying and getting the best out of plasma technology. If you have any questions about this, please email us. If there is something else you'd like to see here, email us and we'll incorporate it.

There are many benefits to plasma technology:

Higher resolution
Fujitsu Plasma displays have a much higher resolution than standard televisions and can display High Definition signals as well as UXGA, XGA, SVGA and VGA signals from a computer.

No Scan lines
Conventional TVs use an electron beam to scan the picture tube at regular intervals, lighting the phosphors to create a picture. Plasma displays are totally different, as each of the little pixels can be turned on and off at any time. Fujitsu plasma displays include built-in line doubling to further improve image quality when viewing low resolution sources such as video tapes.

Widescreen aspect ratio
All Fujitsu Plasma displays have a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. This is the ideal aspect ratio for digital television, and allows DVD's to be viewed in widescreen.

Perfectly uniform interference free flat screen
Fujitsu Plasma displays have screens that are perfectly flat and have perfectly even brightness. There are never any hot spots on a plasma screen like on some rear projection televisions. Plasma displays offer a viewing angle of 160 degrees. This allows a larger number of viewers to enjoy proper image reproduction from a wider variety of locations throughout the room. Plasma technology is also immune from magnetic fields, so you can place speakers near the display with no colour shift.

More colours
Fujitsu plasma displays are capable of displaying 16.7 million colours. This provides for extremely subtle gradations between colours making skin tones look more realistic and natural.

So, now you know some of the benefits of plasma technology you can make a decision as to which one will be right for you.

Plasma monitors are measured diagonally across the screen, just like TVs. You'll need to work out where you want to put the plasma first of all.

For a 42 inch plasma, you'll need a space at least 108cm wide by 65cm high to allow for proper airflow around the unit. For a 50 inch plasma, you'll need a space 130cm wide and 74cm high.

Once you've selected your location for the unit, you need to make sure there is adequate space between you and the plasma. A 42 inch plasma should be viewed from 10-14 feet away, a 55 inch from 15-20 feet.

Next you'll need to determine how the plasma will be mounted. There are many different options to be considered. You can have the plasma on a desk top stand, a wall bracket, a ceiling mount and variations on these. Please ask us what's available and we'll be able to advise you on the best way to mount your plasma.
